Dana Nevedal, PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist — Albany, NY
Originally from Michigan, I completed my doctoral studies in clinical psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit. Before going into private practice in Albany, I trained and worked at the University of Michigan's Spine Program, West Virginia University's Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, VA Connecticut / Yale Department of Psychiatry, and the University at Albany's Counseling and Psychological Services Center. I am a licensed psychologist in New York State.
My clinical work is shaped by that training: direct, structured, and grounded in evidence-based methods — with a focus on the presentations that are hardest to talk about and most often undertreated.
My research and publications have focused on chronic pain management, traumatic stress in first responders, medication adherence, and CBT interventions. I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).
Outside of Work
I grew up in Michigan and have called Albany, NY home for many years now. Outside of work, I spend time in the Adirondacks, Catskills, and Green Mountains across all four seasons (on foot, on horseback, and on skis). I read short stories, support local independent theater, and value time with family and close friends of both the two- and four-legged variety. I also love watching scary movies.
