In-Network Insurance Plans
The following plans are accepted for outpatient individual psychotherapy via telehealth across New York State:
- Highmark Blue Shield
- Highmark BCBS of Western New York
- BlueShield of Northeastern New York (BSNENY)
- Aetna
- CDPHP
- MVP Health Care
- Medicare
Out-of-Network Insurance
Out-of-network benefits are accepted but coverage varies widely. Some plans cover 60–80% after a deductible; others reimburse very little or nothing at all.
- NYSHIP Empire Plan Not in-network. Out-of-network benefits typically have a $5,000 deductible. Contact NYSHIP for details.
- UnitedHealthcare & Cigna Not in-network. Out-of-network benefits may apply but vary significantly by plan. Contact your insurer for details.
- Medicaid I do not participate with straight Medicaid and cannot accept self-pay from covered individuals. Managed Medicaid through CDPHP or MVP is in-network and accepted.
Fees & Payment
Initial evaluation and treatment planning session.
Individual therapy session (~45–55 minutes).
Your out-of-pocket cost (copay, deductible, or coinsurance) is determined by your plan. Contact your insurer for details.
Accepted Payment Methods
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, HSA/FSA cards, cash, and check.
Good Faith Estimate Notice
Under the No Surprises Act, individuals who are uninsured or who choose not to use their insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before receiving services. A Good Faith Estimate may be requested by phone or email at any time before scheduling.
How to Verify Your Benefits
Call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Is outpatient mental health (psychotherapy) covered under my plan?
- Is Dana Nevedal, PhD in-network under my specific plan?
- Do I have a deductible for mental health services, and has it been met?
- What is my copay or coinsurance per session?
- Do I have out-of-network benefits?
- Is there a session limit per year?
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept Medicare?
Yes. Medicare Part B is accepted for outpatient psychotherapy. Medicare covers 80% of the approved amount after your Part B deductible. You pay 20% coinsurance. The office bills Medicare directly.
Do you accept Medicaid?
Straight (fee-for-service) Medicaid is not accepted, and self-pay is not available as an alternative for individuals covered by Medicaid. Managed Medicaid through CDPHP or MVP is in-network and accepted.
Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?
Yes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
